Available Boxer Puppies
Purchasing from Roper’s Boxers – FAQ’s & What You Need to Know
Any boxers that are currently available are listed below. If we don’t have puppies available, you’ll see our expected litters for the next 6-12 months. You can see additional pictures of the expecting parents as well as their pedigrees on the Our Boxers page.
What vet care do puppies have before I take them home? Do I get records? When can I pick up?
Our puppies have their tails docked & dewclaws removed & they are all vet checked by our veterinarians at SAHO Animal Hospitals. They are vaccinated at 6 & 9 weeks (and beyond if still here) & we will send you home with full records as well as a schedule to complete their puppy series of vaccines with your veterinarian. We worm them regularly starting at 2 weeks of age, treat proactively for coccidiosis, start them on heartworm/flea/tick prevention at 8 weeks of age, & microchip them before they leave our home. They can go home at 8 weeks of age & they’ll have a puppy folder with all of their health records, AKC papers, & other important information. They’ll have a bit of the food they’ve been eating, a blanket with familiar pheromones from their siblings & mother, & other fun items in their puppy kit that goes home with them.
Are puppies potty trained? Crate trained?
Our puppies are whelped & raised in 5’x5′ veterinary grade dog runs inside our climate controlled dog room, which is right off of our living room. These dog runs are just like what you’d see if they were boarding at a veterinary hospital. Their indoor runs have attached 18’x20′ yards with veterinary grade turf that we clean & disinfect regularly. Starting at 5 weeks, puppies are given access to these yards via dog door & they learn to go potty outside by following mom. By the time they’re ready to go home, they’re using the door 100% of the time, even in inclement weather. This doesn’t mean they won’t have accidents when they go home, your house is a much larger space than the dog run & they’re used to 24/7 access to that doggie door. What this does mean is that they are used to going potty outside & that makes training much easier because they don’t want to go potty inside. We do not crate train them before they leave our home but their runs are similar enough that crate training usually isn’t too difficult.
Are your puppies registered? Can I breed my puppy?
We only raise AKC registered boxers. All puppies are listed with AKC limited registration, meaning they cannot be shown in all AKC classes & their offspring cannot be registered with AKC. Full registration is sometimes available for an additional fee & puppies with full registration available will be noted as such. We only offer full registration on dogs that we would keep for our program ourselves. Not all litters have pups eligible for full registration, less than 20% of our puppies are offered with breeding rights as we only want the best of the best possibly producing pups in the future.
Do you adopt out older puppies or adult dogs?
Occasionally we will have older dogs available for various reasons & these dogs will be spayed or neutered, current on vaccines, & current on heartworm prevention when leaving our home. They will also be microchipped.
How do I reserve a puppy? Can I come pick my puppy out in person?
We list puppies at about 2 weeks of age BUT we do not start accepting deposits that early. Typically we start reserving pups at around 3 weeks old & the waiting list folks get to choose their pups first. Once they’ve chosen, the remaining pups from the litter are opened up to everyone to reserve. We can hold the puppy of your choice with a $300 deposit & signed puppy purchase agreement. We welcome in person visits to pick the puppy of your choice AFTER the puppies are 6 weeks of age. They are susceptible to many illnesses & you can unknowingly bring things in on your hands & clothes that can be fatal to babies. By 6 weeks of age they have had their first vaccine and are at least big enough to more effectively treat should they pick something up from a visitor. We do not allow your other dogs to come and meet the puppies under any circumstances.
